History of Maison Saint-CharlesA place dedicated to hospitality
Maison Saint-Charles arose from a collaboration between the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation and Habitat et Humanisme Île-de-France.
With a commitment to preserving the humanistic mission of the site, they jointly developed an innovative social project aimed at creating :
- An intergenerational residence with 49 housing units, including 2 intergenerational shared accommodations: homes for independent seniors, housing for single-parent families requiring close support, studios for young people aged 18 to 30 engaged in social and professional integration and 2 large shared apartments, each accommodating a young person, a senior and a single-parent family.
- 15 hotel rooms
- workspaces: meeting and co-working spaces
DRIVEN BY A SPIRIT OF SHARING AND OPENNESS, THIS PROJECT ENHANCES THE UNIQUE CHARACTER OF THE PLACE, WHICH REMAINS DEDICATED TO HOSPITALITY.
From its origins to the present day Since its establishment, Maison Saint-Charles has
upheld its mission of hospitality and solidarity
IN 1862
Father Joseph-Charles Bayle acquired Maison Saint-Charles to establish his orphanage there.
IN 1872
the Sisters of Notre-Dame des Anges succeeded him. They carried out their work in the healthcare, medical and educational sectors, advocating for the most disadvantaged.
IN 1966
the Congregation merged with the Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Presentation, becoming the custodian of the spiritual and social heritage of the Maison.
IN 2012
the Congregation decided to transform the increasingly outdated site while preserving its profound humanistic mission. To achieve this, new partners were needed, and significant renovation work had to be undertaken. This is how the new Maison Saint-Charles came about, first opening its doors in 2021.
IN 2021
the new Maison Saint-Charles opened, managed by Habitat et Humanisme Île-de-France.

Maison Saint-Charles has been designed to promote communal living and facilitate interactions between residents and visitors, while ensuring tranquillity and privacy for everyone.
Responsible tourism Holidays for
the most disadvantaged
Certified by VACAF, Maison Saint-Charles promotes holiday opportunities for a larger number of families. It can thus accommodate individuals benefiting from the Family Vacation Assistance (AVF) program. This is a financial aid provided by the CAF to low-income families to help them go on holiday at approved VACAF partner establishments.
